Lowell Construction is seeking an experienced CDL Side-Dump Driver / Equipment Hauler to support our underground utility and civil construction operations.
This position combines the responsibilities of operating a side-dump truck with safely transporting heavy construction equipment between jobsites, vendor locations, maintenance facilities, and our yard. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial driver who understands the pace of municipal utility construction and can operate safely in active excavation environments. This position plays a critical role in keeping crews productive by ensuring materials and equipment arrive safely, on time, and ready for work.
Key Responsibilities:
Side-Dump Operations
Safely transport aggregates, import/export material, bedding, backfill, spoils, and other construction materialsDeliver materials to active utility and street excavation projectsHaul materials between jobsites, vendor yards, pits, quarries, and disposal facilitiesOperate side-dump equipment safely on paved and unimproved roads
Equipment Transportation
Safely load, secure, transport, and unload company equipment including: Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Skid steers, Compactors, Rollers, Backhoes, Trench Boxes, Attachments, Small support equipment, and moreProper loading and unloading proceduresCorrect tie-down methods and load securement inspectionsRoute planning
Jobsite Support
Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, Dispatch, Mechanics, and Project ManagersAssist with daily equipment moves to maximize productionWork safely around excavation crews, underground utilities, traffic control, and heavy equipmentAssist with deliveries during changing project prioritiesVendor & Yard Operations
Pick up materials from quarries, pipe suppliers, concrete plants, and equipment vendorsVerify quantities, materials, and load ticketsAssist with organization of company yard and equipment stagingDeliver equipment for maintenance and repairs as neededEquipment Care
Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspectionsPerform routine housekeeping and minor preventative maintenanceReport maintenance concerns promptlyMaintain trucks, trailers, and securement equipment in clean, safe operating condition
