CDL Driver - Rear Load Driver

$26.00 - $30.00 hourly

Job Description

Position Summary

Rear Load Drivers safely and efficiently operate heavy-duty trucks. Drivers will navigate high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots and may operate in tight overhead environments while on route. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job. The ideal candidate will be hard-working and enthusiastic, with an acceptable driving record and the ability to pass regular drug screenings, pre-employment physical and background checks. Rear Load Drivers will be crossed trained as a Heavy Equipmnet Operator and must have previous experience operating equipment.

Work Environment and Expectations

This is a full time, hourly position

Schedule is Monday – Friday starting at 5:30 a.m.

Shifts are typically 10 hours per day

Starting pay is $26 - $30 per hour

Drivers receive a $2 per hour safety bonus that immediately goes into effect

Drivers are currently being offered a $4,000 sign-on bonus based on experience.

Qualifications

Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with an airbrake endorsement.

1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.

2 years of previous experience operating heavy equipment

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Holds an acceptable driving record.

Ability to work independently and on a team.

Strong customer service skills

Good time management skills

Duties and Responsibilities

Operates vehicle and equipment by Atlas Disposal Industries safety rules and operating procedures, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.

Performs pre-and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).

Follow assigned route and service assigned containers – replace containers properly, reports containers in need of repair, leaves all locations clean and free of debris.

Operates computerized mobile tablet to track progress on route, complete stops, and enters notes and landfill information.

Moves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment.

Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Supervisor or Dispatch.

Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required or directed by the Supervisor.

Works closely with Dispatch and Supervisor to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.

Immediately notify the Supervisor or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.

Performs all duties as scheduled by Supervisor or Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
